What does Tejas Cargo India do? Business, products and customers
Tejas Cargo India runs long-haul trucking under the full truckload model: one customer's goods fill one truck or trailer from pickup to delivery. Customers are in logistics and express cargo, steel and cement, e-commerce, industrial goods and chemicals, FMCG and white goods, and the company gets more than 98% of its revenue from this trucking. It works from 27 branches with an owned fleet of 1,338 trucks and trailers at March 2026, and hires trucks from the open market when its own are not free.
The business began in 2009 as Trans Cargo India, a sole proprietorship of promoter Manish Bindal, and moved into this company after it was formed in March 2021; the shares listed on NSE Emerge in February 2025. Trucks are serviced at a yard in Sidhrawali, Haryana, and a licensed captive diesel pump at Rewari, Haryana supplies part of the fuel. On the May 2026 call the CFO said the pump's price advantage over retail diesel fell to 3% to 4% in the second half of FY26, from 10% to 14% earlier.
In FY26 the company moved into coal, fly ash, mining, car carrier and freight forwarding work, which together made 5.5% of revenue. It won a five year bauxite mining contract from CMDC, runs two electric trucks for Amazon and, on the May 2026 call, reported an order from Dalmia Cements for ten electric trucks on an eight year contract. Revenue from operations was ₹628.7 cr in FY26 against ₹501.3 cr in FY25, and profit after tax was ₹20.9 cr against ₹19.1 cr.

Tejas Cargo India study: what the filings say about the business
Read from 14 of the company's own documents
1Is it a good business?
Tejas Cargo India earns its money by carrying full truckloads for large companies, mostly in its own trucks, and hires trucks from the market to fill gaps.
Its weak spots are that customers take a while to pay, toll and insurance costs are hard to pass on, and the fleet needs steady borrowing.
Work is won by bidding for routes a year at a time in a crowded market. Fuel price changes pass through to customers, but higher tolls and insurance did not in FY26.
The evidence
The then CFO said work orders are bid lane by lane and run for one year; ICRA says intense competition limits pricing flexibility; the CFO said contracts carry diesel escalation but toll and insurance rises hurt FY26 profit and are being negotiated.
Earnings call, November 2025, p.12; ICRA rating note, July 2026, p.7; Earnings call, May 2026, p.9An owned fleet, a branch network, its own repair yard and a captive diesel pump give it more control than most truckers. The industry is still crowded and easy to enter, and the fuel price edge has narrowed.
The evidence
1,338 owned vehicles, 27 branches and a PESO-licensed pump at Rewari; ICRA notes low entry barriers and stiff competition; the CFO said the pump's discount to retail diesel fell from 10% to 14% to 3% to 4% in the second half of FY26.
Investor presentation, May 2026, p.16 and p.17; ICRA rating note, July 2026, p.7; Earnings call, May 2026, p.10Customers are mostly large, well known companies in logistics, steel, cement and e-commerce. A small group of them still brings in most of the income, though that share is falling.
The evidence
Over 90% of revenue from large corporates; top 10 customers at 73% of income in FY26 against 84% in FY24 by the company's count, about 53% by ICRA's; ICRA names Safexpress, Instakart Services and Bluedart.
Investor presentation, May 2026, p.22; ICRA rating note, July 2026, p.6 and p.7Trucks cost money up front and customers pay later, so the company keeps borrowing. ICRA points to a thin cushion in its working capital limits.
The evidence
FY26 cash from operations ₹59.2 cr against ₹126.1 cr spent on investments, short-term borrowings up from ₹72.6 cr to ₹124.2 cr; ICRA reports a cushion of only ₹11 cr in fund-based limits at 30 June 2026; members raised the borrowing limit to ₹800 cr in July 2026.
Investor presentation, May 2026, p.31 and p.32; ICRA rating note, July 2026, p.7; Annual report FY26, p.46It added new kinds of work and new large customers in FY26 while trips kept rising. Electric truck contracts with long terms have started to come in.
The evidence
Coal, fly ash, car carrier and freight forwarding made 5.5% of FY26 revenue; new clients named include ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel, ACC, ITC, Nayara Energy and CMDC; a five year CMDC mining contract and an eight year Dalmia Cements order for ten electric trucks.
Investor presentation, May 2026, p.2; Earnings call, May 2026, p.5, p.6 and p.12Sales have grown every year so far, but trucking follows how much industry is producing and moving. The first half of the year is usually the slower one.
The evidence
ICRA says revenue and earnings remain vulnerable to a slowdown in economic activity and goods movement, partly offset by a spread of customers and industries; the chairman said the first six months are on the lower side for the logistics industry.
ICRA rating note, July 2026, p.6 and p.7; Earnings call, November 2025, p.6Each answer is about that one question, read from the documents; it is not a view on the shares.
2What do the numbers say?
Sales have grown every year since the company was formed, and profit has grown too, but in the latest year profit grew much more slowly than sales.
Margins slipped in the latest year as hired trucks, tolls and insurance cost more, and profit in the second half was lower than a year earlier.
Most of the cash the business makes goes back into trucks, so borrowings rose again and the cash balance fell.
- The five year CMDC bauxite mining contract, and whether CMDC grants the selling rights the company has applied for (Earnings call, May 2026, p.6).
- The Dalmia Cements order for ten electric trucks on an eight year contract, reported on the May 2026 call (Earnings call, May 2026, p.12).
- The working capital cushion ICRA flagged, only ₹11 cr in fund-based limits at 30 June 2026, and ₹39 cr of loan repayments due in FY27 (ICRA rating note, July 2026, p.7 and p.8).
- The aim of about 40% of revenue from hired trucks by FY27 (Investor presentation, May 2026, p.23).
