newboard.in does not ask you to sign up and does not ask for personal information to read the site.

What is recorded

• The web server keeps standard access logs: your IP address, the browser you use, the pages requested and the time. They are used to keep the site running and secure, and to count visits, and are deleted after a limited period. The counts are daily totals worked out on the server (page views, visitors, the pages read, the sites that linked here); they keep no address or other identifier.
• newboard.in uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are read and how people arrive. It sets Google Analytics cookies in your browser (their names start with _ga) so that a return visit to this site is counted as the same browser, and Google receives the page you opened, the site that sent you, and your browser and device type. Google Analytics does not store IP addresses. Google signals and ad personalisation are switched off, so this data is not used for advertising. It does not load if your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control. Google's use of the data is covered by its privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy.
• Each page reports how long it was open and how far it was scrolled, when you leave it. The report carries the address of that page, the number of seconds, and whether you followed the link to the Telegram channel. It carries no cookie, no identifier and nothing that joins one page to another, and the server adds it straight into that day's total for that page: what exists afterwards is a line like "this page was open for 41 minutes across 23 visits today". It is used to see which studies are read and which are left, nothing else. A browser that sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, or that has been marked at newboard.in/api/uncounted, reports nothing.
• Apart from Google Analytics, reading the site sets no cookies. One more is set only if you open newboard.in/api/uncounted, which stops the server counting that browser's visits; opening newboard.in/api/uncounted?undo=1 removes it.
• newboard.in does not run advertising and does not trade or share data about visitors. Apart from Google Analytics, nothing on this site is sent to anybody else.
• If you write to us by email, we keep the message and your address to reply to you.
• If you ask for IPO notices by email, we keep your address, when you confirmed it, the version of this notice you agreed to and the issues you follow. It is used only to send those notices, the week ahead on Sundays and, if you ask for it, the morning brief, never shared or sold, and deleted from sending the moment you use the unsubscribe link in any email. Write to us to have it erased.
• If you switch on browser notices, we keep the push address your browser gives us, which is removed when the browser stops accepting notices.
• If you follow an issue through the newboard Telegram bot, we keep the number Telegram gives that chat and the issues it follows, and use them only to send messages about those issues. No name, username or phone number is kept. Sending /stop to the bot deletes every follow at once, and if you block the bot its follows are deleted the next time a message to it fails. Telegram itself handles the chat under its own terms.
