About Pune E - Stock Broking: business, products and customers

Pune E-Stock Broking is a stockbroker from Pune that lets people trade shares and commodities, lends them money to purchase shares, and offers research, mutual funds and other investment services. Its shares trade on BSE SME.

Pune E-Stock Broking began in 2007 and is a member of NSE, BSE and MCX and a depository participant of CDSL. It serves clients through its own branches and franchise partners called authorised persons, with an in-house research desk and its own trading apps. The group also holds Pune Finvest, an NBFC, a broking arm at GIFT City, and PESB Alpha Fund, a Category III alternative investment fund that the company says is managed by the promoter.

The way a broker books its income shapes the numbers. Brokerage is shown in full as revenue, and a large part is then paid out to authorised persons, so when trading falls revenue drops sharply but much of the cost falls with it. Alongside brokerage the company earns interest on margin trading loans to clients, secured by their shares and funded partly with short term borrowings; interest on fixed deposits, most of which sit with exchanges and banks as margin and as backing for bank guarantees; and gains from trading and investing its own money. Client money held for trading shows up on the balance sheet as bank balances and amounts payable, which makes the balance sheet large compared with profit.

Read more about the business

SEBI's tighter rules on futures and options, phased in from October 2024 to December 2025, cut trading in the year to March 2026, and the annual report says gross brokerage fell while profit rose because payouts to authorised persons fell faster and income shifted to margin lending, its own trading and treasury. The company has added merchant banking, the alternative investment fund, mutual fund distribution, a market making licence and, in July 2026, an IRDAI approval to distribute insurance as a corporate agent. The annual report says discount and zero brokerage platforms keep pressure on brokerage rates and that market share is moving toward the largest brokers, without naming any of them.

From the FY26 and FY25 annual reports, the investor presentation of September 2026 and the exchange announcement of 29 September 2026.

In its favour

  • It paid a dividend in the past year.

To watch

  • Results for the half to September 2026 against the company's aim of double digit profit growth (investor presentation, September 2026, p.17).
  • The debenture plan of up to ₹50 cr considered on 5 October 2026 and the growth of borrowings behind the margin trading book (exchange announcement, 29 September 2026; annual report FY26, p.76).
  • The ₹15.0 cr invested in FY26 in PESB Alpha Fund, which the company says is managed by the promoter, and loans taken from promoter directors (annual report FY26, p.128; investor presentation, September 2026, p.25).
  • Dilution from warrants: 20 lakh were issued at ₹171 in FY26 and a further issue followed in FY27, on whose size and price the annual report's sections differ (annual report FY26, p.49 and p.86).
  • Compliance: the secretarial auditor flagged the insider trading database in FY25 and FY26, and an exchange penalty of ₹0.29 cr was paid under protest (annual report FY26, p.85 and p.120; annual report FY25, p.47).

Pune E - Stock Broking debt and cash flow

Balance sheet · Cash flow · Working capital

The company's own money, its net worth, has grown. Its loans are smaller than its own money. Last year the business brought in less cash than it showed as profit, so part of the profit is still to be collected. It spent more on assets and investments than the business brought in, and raised the rest from loans or shares. Customers take longer to pay than they did in FY24, which ties up more of the company's money in unpaid bills.

The company says it aims for double digit annual profit growth, over one lakh customers by 2027, and growth in margin lending, merchant banking, wealth and insurance. It said its insurance advisory was on track to start in September 2026. On 29 September 2026 it told the exchange that its board would meet on 5 October 2026 to consider raising up to ₹50 cr through secured, rated, listed non-convertible debentures.

Is it a good business? Six questions

Each answer is about that one question, read from the documents; tap one for the evidence. Not a view on the shares.

Pune E-Stock Broking earns from clients' trading, from lending them money against their shares and from interest on its own deposits, so its income rises and falls with market activity.

Its weak spots are thin pricing power against discount brokers, rules that can shrink trading quickly, and a large balance sheet that earns only a modest return.

WatchCan it set its own prices? Not much. Discount and zero brokerage platforms keep brokerage rates down, and a large part of what it earns goes to authorised persons.
The evidence. The annual reports describe continued price competition from discount brokers and pressure on brokerage yields; sub-brokerage was ₹19.3 cr against gross brokerage of ₹28.0 cr in FY26; margin trading rates vary by client relationship and size.Annual report FY26, p.73 to 74, p.120 and p.121; annual report FY25, p.40; investor presentation, September 2026, p.9
AverageHow strong is it against rivals? It has a loyal regional base and a wide product range for a small broker, but the market is consolidating toward much larger brokers.
The evidence. Over 65,000 clients and more than 120 authorised persons; the FY25 annual report says market share is consolidating among top brokers while discount brokers compete on price and technology.Investor presentation, September 2026, p.6; annual report FY25, p.4 and p.40
StrongWho are its customers?Tens of thousands of individual investors and traders, so no single client matters much, though only some of them trade in a given year.
The evidence. Over 65,000 total clients, of whom more than 17,000 traded, and about 1,600 mutual fund investors.Investor presentation, September 2026, p.6 and p.11
WatchDoes it need a lot of money?Yes. Exchange margins, bank guarantees and the margin lending book all tie up money, and the company keeps raising capital and borrowings to grow.
The evidence. Bank guarantees of ₹100.0 cr for margin requirements at March 2026; short term borrowings up to ₹47.0 cr; convertible warrants issued in FY26; a debenture issue of up to ₹50 cr to be considered in October 2026; consolidated ROE was 12.2% in FY26.Annual report FY26, p.123 and p.49; investor presentation, September 2026, p.6 and p.23; exchange announcement, 29 September 2026
AverageCan it keep finding new work?It keeps adding services for its existing clients, but its core trading income depends on market activity it cannot control.
The evidence. New lines include merchant banking, an alternative investment fund, mutual fund distribution, a market making licence and IRDAI approval in July 2026 to distribute insurance; the company aims for over one lakh customers by 2027.Annual report FY26, p.73 and p.77; investor presentation, September 2026, p.17
WatchDo good and bad years swing a lot?Yes. Revenue follows trading volumes and regulation, and part of the profit comes from its own trading and investment gains.
The evidence. Consolidated revenue from operations was ₹66.4 cr in FY24, ₹63.1 cr in FY25 and ₹53.9 cr in FY26; FY26 standalone income included ₹6.1 cr from own trading and ₹3.5 cr profit on sale of shares.Investor presentation, September 2026, p.22; annual report FY26, p.120 and p.121
