The chance of getting the minimum allotment

Where a category is oversubscribed, the registrar draws lots: each successful application gets the minimum and no more. So the chance is the number of minimum applications the category can fill, divided by the applications received.

CategoryMinimum applicationMinimums availableApplicationsChance, from the bid book
Retail85 shares · ₹14,19522,232not publishedat least 1 in 12
Non-institutional, ₹2 to 10 lakh1,275 shares · ₹2,12,925211not publishedat least 1 in 60
Non-institutional, above ₹10 lakh6,035 shares · ₹10,07,84589not publishedat least 1 in 93

Arithmetic on the bid book, not a view on the shares. Where applications are not published, the figure is a floor ("at least"): shares bid ÷ the minimum application is the most applications there can be. Invalid and duplicate bids are removed before the draw, so the real ratio is usually better. The minimum application is at the upper end of the price band. Method: how the chance is worked out.
