About Mos Utility: business, products and customers
Mos Utility runs a portal and wallet that let small shops across India offer cash withdrawal, money transfer, bill payments, recharges and travel tickets, and it keeps a share of the fee on each one. Its shares trade on NSE Emerge.
Mos Utility, started in Mumbai in 2009, gives agents, distributors and master distributors one login and one wallet for services from banks, billers, IRCTC (where it is a principal service provider), insurers and courier firms. The FY26 annual report counts more than two lakh agent counters across over 16,000 PIN codes, most of them in smaller towns and villages. Four subsidiaries widen the range: Indicore Infocomm supplies mobile top-up and bill payment to other fintech platforms through APIs, JC Ventures and Samvriddhi Inclusive Growth Network run customer service points as business correspondents for banks, and MOS Logconnect runs a courier booking platform.
The way it works shapes the numbers. Revenue is booked gross, so the full value of recharges and services counts as revenue and the agents' share counts as cost; in FY26 the cost of services took about nine tenths of consolidated revenue, and Indicore alone brought about three fifths of revenue but under ₹1 cr of profit. Services are prepaid by agents, but the company has to keep money parked with banks, IRCTC and other partners, and from FY26 it also funds instant credit for agents through Merchant QR, so borrowings and interest cost rose while profit stayed thin.
Read more about the business
New lines are still early. The company became a business correspondent of Jio Payments Bank in January 2026 and a referral partner for Thomas Cook's foreign exchange products in May 2026, and in September 2026 the RBI gave Samvriddhi in-principle authorisation to run an online payment aggregator and to issue prepaid payment instruments. In April 2026 the board and shareholders approved moving the shares to the NSE main board and listing them on BSE.
The documents name no listed rivals. The June 2024 call said six to seven corporate business correspondents work for Bank of India alongside Mos Utility and that mandates go to whoever completes targets fastest, and Crisil describes the banking and mobile utility business as intensely competitive.
From the FY25 and FY26 annual reports, the June 2024 earnings call, Crisil's notes of April and May 2025, the June 2026 quarter results and the company's exchange filings to September 2026. There is no offer document among the documents read.

- Sales have grown very fast: 82% a year over three years.
To watch
- Final RBI authorisation for Samvriddhi's online payment aggregator and prepaid instrument businesses, approved in principle on 19 and 24 September 2026 (press releases, p.2).
- Recovery of the inter-corporate deposits with Onix Renewable and Spacemantra Solutions; the FY26 corporate governance report lists the Onix loan among loans to firms or companies in which directors are interested (annual report FY26, p.88, p.151 and p.212).
- Promoter holding after the pledge on Kurjibhai Premjibhai Ruparelia's shares was invoked in August 2026, and a settled management team after the CFO resigned in November 2025 and the CEO in August 2026 (exchange filings, 26 Aug 2026 and 4 Aug 2026, p.1).
- Clean audits after statutory auditor Mathia & Co resigned on 13 August 2025 and FY25 comparatives were restated for prior period errors; the secretarial auditor noted late disclosure of that change and an NSE fine of ₹0.13 cr (annual report FY26, p.28, p.52 and p.65).
- Its borrowings rose a lot last year: ₹69.8 cr, from ₹17 cr.

Mos Utility debt and cash flow
Balance sheet · Cash flow · Working capitalThe company's own money, its net worth, has grown. It borrowed much more last year. Its loans are smaller than its own money. Last year the business used more cash than it brought in. It spent more on assets and investments than the business brought in, and raised the rest from loans or shares. Customers pay faster than they did in FY24, which frees up the company's money.
Bars below the line are cash going out.

What the company said, and what happened
The company's own statements, attributed, set against what it later reported; not newboard's estimates
The company says it will take its Q-Bridge platform deeper in districts it already covers, scale Merchant QR and POS with working capital, build insurance sales at its counters and complete the groundwork for moving to the NSE main board, which the board and shareholders approved in April 2026 along with a BSE listing. Samvriddhi plans online payment aggregation and prepaid instruments once the RBI grants final authorisation.

Is it a good business? Six questions
Each answer is about that one question, read from the documents; tap one for the evidence. Not a view on the shares.
Mos Utility earns a small share of the fees on everyday payments and bookings made at a very large number of small shops, so its profit is thin next to the revenue it reports.
Its weak spots are commissions set by banks and billers, money lent to outside companies, and a year of changes among its auditors, officers and promoters.
WatchCan it set its own prices? No. Banks, billers and IRCTC set the commission, and most of it goes on to the agents.
AverageHow strong is it against rivals? Its network of shops is large and old, which is hard to copy, but banks spread their mandates across several correspondents.
AverageWho are its customers?Banks, IRCTC, billers and other fintech platforms pay it, through a long tail of small agents, and a minority of agents bring most of the business.
WatchDoes it need a lot of money? It needs little machinery, but it must keep money parked with partners, now funds instant credit for agents, and has lent large sums to outside companies.
AverageCan it keep finding new work?It keeps adding partners and licences, but its network has grown more slowly than promised and revenue fell in the latest quarter.
AverageDo good and bad years swing a lot?Everyday payments are steady, but the profit margin moves with the mix of services.
