About Sungold Media and Entertainment: business, products and customers

Sungold Media and Entertainment calls itself an entertainment company, but its annual reports do not say what it makes or who pays for it. Most of its money is lent out to other parties, and its shares trade on BSE SME.

Sungold was set up in 1995 and has its registered office in Rajpipla, in Narmada district, Gujarat. The annual report describes it as an entertainment company and lists a very wide range of permitted work, from producing and distributing films, music and video rights to publishing, events and digital and network marketing. It reports a single business segment and does not name a product, a title, a client or a platform.

The company is small: seven permanent employees, no factory and no borrowings. In the year to March 2026 it earned under ₹1 crore of income from operations; the largest costs were salaries, a line called expenses for operation, and the Managing Director's pay. It holds no stock, so the accounts show no purchases of goods.

Read more about the business

Almost all of the balance sheet sits in loans and advances given to unnamed outside parties rather than in the business. The money raised from warrants in earlier years went partly into such lending, including an unsecured deposit with a non related company, and the auditor reports that most of the loans are more than ninety days overdue.

In 2025 shareholders widened the company's objects to allow drinks, packaged food, medicines and farming; the FY25 report said the plan was to make and distribute alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages through tie ups. The FY26 report shows no spending, plant or income from these new lines yet. The annual reports name no competitors, and with no stated product there is no clear set of listed companies doing the same work.

  • It has little debt for its size: debt to equity 0.00.

To watch

  • Recovery of the ₹10.0 cr of loans and interest that the auditor reports as more than ninety days overdue (Annual report FY26, p.46).
  • Any start of the planned drinks business under the objects approved on 10 September 2025 (Annual report FY25, p.13; Annual report FY26, p.16).
  • The new Chief Financial Officer, Amit Kotia, appointed on 5 June 2026 after Jayesh Patni resigned on 28 May 2026 (Annual report FY26, p.17).
  • Managing Director pay of ₹0.01 cr a month put to shareholders for March 2026 to March 2028 (Annual report FY26, p.5).
  • Customers take longer to pay than before: 120 days in FY26, against 0 in FY15.

From the company's documents first, then the reported figures read by fixed rules, the same for every company. Facts, not a view on the shares.

Sales have grown slowly. Last year profit grew more slowly than sales, so the profit kept from each rupee of sales slipped.

The company's own money, its net worth, has grown. It has almost no borrowings. Last year the business used more cash than it brought in. It spent more on assets and investments than the business brought in, and drew on its cash. Customers pay faster than they did in FY24, which frees up the company's money.

Is it a good business? Six questions

Each answer is about that one question, read from the documents; tap one for the evidence. Not a view on the shares.

The company earns very little from its stated media work, and the reports do not say what that work is or who pays for it.

Its weak spot is that most of its money is lent to outside parties and much of it is overdue.

WatchCan it set its own prices?Nothing in the reports shows a product or service with a price the company controls.
The evidence. The annual report describes the company only as an entertainment company with a broad list of permitted activities and reports one segment.Annual report FY26, p.35
WatchHow strong is it against rivals? No edge over rivals is described; the reports speak of the industry, not of the company's own place in it.
The evidence. The management discussion covers the Indian media industry and says the company aims for trendy, youthful content, without naming a brand, a title or a client.Annual report FY26, p.35
WatchWho are its customers?Customers are not named, and the dues still owed by them are all more than three years old.
The evidence. Trade receivables of ₹0.28 cr in March 2026, all outstanding for more than three years.Annual report FY26, p.58
WatchDoes it need a lot of money? The business itself needs little, but most of the money raised sits in loans to others rather than in the work.
The evidence. Loans and advances to others of ₹9,49,39,409 outstanding, of which ₹9,38,79,219 of principal is more than ninety days overdue; warrant money of ₹6.0 cr reported as fully used.Annual report FY26, p.16 and p.46
WatchCan it keep finding new work? The company plans to move into drinks and other new lines, but the reports show no orders, plant or income from them.
The evidence. New objects for beverages, food, medicines and farming approved on 10 September 2025; the FY26 report shows no change in the nature of business.Annual report FY25, p.13; Annual report FY26, p.16 and p.23
AverageDo good and bad years swing a lot?Sales have stayed small and steady, but profit is so thin that a small change in costs can wipe it out.
The evidence. Income from operations of ₹0.88 cr in FY26 against ₹0.84 cr in FY25; profit after tax of ₹0.02 cr against ₹0.03 cr.Annual report FY26, p.15
