About Rex Pipes And Cables Industries: business, products and customers

Rex Pipes and Cables Industries makes plastic pipes, electric wires and cables for farms, homes and builders, and builds bodies for buses and trucks, at its plants in Sikar, Rajasthan. Its shares trade on NSE Emerge.

The company was formed in Sikar in 2002 as Kaler Electricals Private Limited to take over Kaler Electric Works, a proprietary firm of Sharwan Kumar Kaler. Under the REX brand it now makes PVC and HDPE pipes, wires, flat cables and winding wire, fittings and sprinklers at plants in Palsana and Sikar, and also resells bought-in goods. At its Palsana plot it builds city, school and inter-city bus bodies and truck bodies on customers' chassis under the Rex Coaches name; the offer document gave that plant a capacity of 600 bus bodies a year.

Pipes and cables go mainly through dealers and distributors to farmers, house builders and electrical users, with some supply to government and semi-government projects through distributors; bus bodies go to vehicle makers, state transport undertakings, fleet operators and schools. At the IPO in 2021 most revenue came from Rajasthan, the top ten customers gave about 44%, and there were no long-term contracts. Export sales were ₹3.7 cr in FY25, against none in FY24.

Read more about the business

This is a conversion and trading business. Raw materials consumed and goods bought for resale together came to about 83% of FY26 revenue, so the margin is a thin spread over PVC, polymer and copper prices, and the company says sharp rises in those prices may not always be recovered from customers. Selling on credit through dealers and carrying stock ties up cash, which is funded mostly by a bank overdraft backed by the directors' personal guarantees.

The documents name no competitors: the offer document says rivals range from small unorganised makers to big organised ones and that the industry has no entry barriers. The company reports a single segment; when NSE asked in July 2026 why its FY26 results carried no segment details, the company replied that separate figures for its product lines are neither prepared nor reviewed. A rooftop solar plant at the factory was enlarged from 377 kW to 667 kW in FY26.

From the offer document (prospectus, 19 July 2021), the FY25 and FY26 annual reports filed on NSE, the audited FY26 results and the company's reply to NSE of 11 July 2026.

Balance sheet · Cash flow · Working capital

The company's own money, its net worth, has grown. Its loans are smaller than its own money. Last year the business brought in less cash than it showed as profit, so part of the profit is still to be collected. Customers take longer to pay than they did in FY24, which ties up more of the company's money in unpaid bills.

Is it a good business? Six questions

Each answer is about that one question, read from the documents; tap one for the evidence. Not a view on the shares.

Rex turns plastic and copper into pipes and cables for farmers, builders and dealers, mostly in Rajasthan, and keeps a thin margin that moves with raw material prices.

Its weak spots are a crowded market with no barriers, money owed by buyers that keeps growing, and family firms in the same trade that both supply it and take its goods.

WatchCan it set its own prices? Not much. Most of each sale is raw material, and the company says higher input prices cannot always be passed on.
The evidence. Materials consumed and goods bought for resale were about 83% of FY26 revenue; the annual report says sharp increases in raw material prices may not always be immediately recoverable from customers; the offer document lists competitive pricing as a strategy.Audited results FY26, p.8; Annual report FY26, p.36; Offer document, p.123
WatchHow strong is it against rivals? It is a small regional brand in a market that anyone can enter.
The evidence. The offer document lists no entry barriers and intense competitive pressure among its threats, with rivals from small unorganised makers to big organised ones; its claimed edge is plants close to customers, since freight is a big part of pipe costs.Offer document, p.110 and p.124 to p.125
AverageWho are its customers? Many dealers and buyers rather than a few big ones, but mostly in one state and with no long-term contracts.
The evidence. At the IPO the top ten customers gave 43.96% of revenue, most revenue came from Rajasthan, and customers bought order by order; no later breakdown is given.Offer document, p.28, p.30, p.33 and p.109
WatchDoes it need a lot of money? Not for machines, but stock and money owed by buyers take a lot, and most of it is borrowed.
The evidence. Receivables rose to ₹34.1 cr at March 2026 from ₹25.4 cr while sales fell; short-term borrowings were ₹29.0 cr, backed by directors' personal guarantees; spending on fixed assets was ₹0.5 cr in FY26.Audited results FY26, p.9 and p.10; Annual report FY25, p.84
WatchCan it keep finding new work?Sales fell last year and the company states no order book, new plant or plan with a date.
The evidence. FY26 revenue fell 12.9%; the FY25 board report had said the company expected to keep delivering strong growth; the FY26 outlook lists aims such as more dealers and wider reach without figures.Annual report FY26, p.5 and p.38 to p.39; Annual report FY25, p.25
AverageDo good and bad years swing a lot?Profit has stayed in a narrow band, but sales and margins move with farm demand, building activity and raw material prices.
The evidence. Profit after tax was ₹4.7 cr in FY24, ₹5.1 cr in FY25 and ₹4.6 cr in FY26 (consolidated), with other income a larger share in FY26; the company names raw material, demand and geopolitical swings as its main risks.Annual report FY25, p.25; Audited results FY26, p.16; Annual report FY26, p.36 to p.37
