About Q-Line Biotech: business, products and customers

Q-Line Biotech makes and sells blood testing machines and the chemicals those machines use, for hospitals, labs and government health centres, mostly in Uttar Pradesh and nearby states. Its shares trade on NSE Emerge.

Q-Line Biotech makes diagnostic reagents and test kits, the analysers that run them, and lab consumables, covering clinical chemistry, haematology, immunology, molecular and rapid tests. Reagents brought in 69.8% of FY26 revenue, instruments 24.3%, consumables 5.1% and service contracts 0.8%.

It sells to hospitals, diagnostic labs and medical colleges through more than 75 distributors in 26 states and 2 union territories. About 65% of the business is with government, and Uttar Pradesh accounts for about 77% of revenue because billing runs through one large distributor there, a promoter entity that runs government labs. Exports were ₹1.2 cr in FY26.

Read more about the business

What is new: the largest plant, Unit 4 in Lucknow, began in February 2026 with licences for five products; an electrolyte analyser has been launched and a Microlab 300 analyser is due; and the company is negotiating to make analysers for export under contract (CDMO).

From the FY26 annual report, the June 2026 investor presentation and earnings call, the August 2026 CARE rating letter and the September 2026 Boule announcement. No offer document was available to read.

Q-Line Biotech debt and cash flow

Balance sheet · Cash flow · Working capital

The company's own money, its net worth, has grown fast. Its loans are smaller than its own money. Last year the business brought in less cash than it showed as profit, so part of the profit is still to be collected. It spent more on assets and investments than the business brought in, and raised the rest from loans or shares. Customers take longer to pay than they did in FY24, which ties up more of the company's money in unpaid bills.

Is it a good business? Six questions

Each answer is about that one question, read from the documents; tap one for the evidence. Not a view on the shares.

Q-Line Biotech places testing machines with labs and then earns for years on the chemicals those machines use, more and more of which it now makes itself.

Its weak spots are heavy reliance on government business through one promoter linked distributor, and slow payment from customers.

AverageCan it set its own prices?Reagents made in house earn good margins, but much of the business comes through government buying, where price matters a great deal.
The evidence. The CFO put gross margin on manufactured reagents at 60% to 65% and on traded reagents at about 50%. About 65% of the business is with government. The company says the cut in the Boule royalty will help it compete in price sensitive government and institutional markets.Earnings call, June 2026, p.12 to 13; Exchange announcement, 2 September 2026, p.2
AverageHow strong is it against rivals?Making both machines and reagents in India, with licensed European designs, sets it apart, but large global makers compete and often place machines free.
The evidence. Technology transfer deals with Vital Scientific and Boule let the company build analysers locally; it says over half its lab equipment is now made in India. The CFO said machines are generally placed free in the industry, while Q-Line sells them to recover cost.Investor presentation, June 2026, p.6 and p.15; Earnings call, June 2026, p.12
WatchWho are its customers?Government labs and hospitals give most of the business, and the largest distributor is a promoter entity.
The evidence. About 65% of the business is with government and 35% with private labs. Uttar Pradesh accounts for about 77% of revenue because billing runs through one distributor there, which the CFO said is a related party, a promoter entity that runs government labs.Earnings call, June 2026, p.13 to 14; Investor presentation, June 2026, p.15
WatchDoes it need a lot of money?Yes. Customers take months to pay and the company sells machines on credit, so a lot of cash is tied up; it has also guaranteed loans of related parties.
The evidence. The CFO said receivables run at 120 to 150 days and the aim is to bring them within 90 to 120 days. Debt to equity was 0.92 times at March 2026. The CFO said corporate guarantees given for related parties are being closed, without a timeline.Earnings call, June 2026, p.12 to 14; Investor presentation, June 2026, p.7
StrongCan it keep finding new work? Each analyser placed brings years of reagent orders, and many new machines went out in the last two years.
The evidence. About 2,500 analysers were added in two years, each with an expected life of eight to ten years; 75% to 80% of the business is closed system. Reagent revenue grew 35% in FY26.Earnings call, June 2026, p.7, p.10 and p.16; Investor presentation, June 2026, p.6
AverageDo good and bad years swing a lot?Reagent sales are steady, but machine sales come in bursts, and most of each year's sales land in the second half.
The evidence. Second half revenue fell 9% in FY26 from a year earlier after a large round of machine placements in FY25; the CFO called machine sales cyclic and said about 40% of revenue comes in the first half and 60% in the second.Investor presentation, June 2026, p.8; Earnings call, June 2026, p.10
