About SKP Bearing Industries: business, products and customers

SKP Bearing Industries makes the tiny steel rollers, balls and pins that go inside bearings and vehicle parts, at plants in Gujarat and France. Its shares trade on NSE Emerge.

SKP Bearing Industries began in 1991 as a partnership in Surendranagar, Gujarat making needle rollers, and now also makes cylindrical rollers, steel balls and precision pins from bearing steel wire. Its customers are mainly automotive part makers and bearing companies; management said in August 2026 that bearing makers are about 10% to 15% of its business and other, mostly automotive, customers the rest. It also owns wind and solar plants that supply part of its own power, with the rest supplied to state power companies.

In India it runs a roller plant (Plant 2), a new steel ball plant (Plant 3) that began commercial production in March 2025, and a development unit (Plant 1). In February 2024 it bought Valette et Gaurand Industries, a French maker of stainless steel, brass and glass balls and rollers, which became its fourth plant and a route to European customers.

Read more about the business

The model shapes the numbers in two ways. Making rolling elements needs heavy machinery, so new capacity adds depreciation and interest before it adds sales, and the new ball plant is still mostly empty. And the French plant lost most of its customers when ownership changed, so its losses sit inside the consolidated accounts: in FY26 the India business earned a profit after tax of ₹15.0 cr while the group earned ₹0.9 cr, and because the French losses give no tax relief the group paid ₹5.6 cr of tax on a pre-tax profit of ₹6.5 cr.

The 2022 offer document compared SKP with four listed bearing makers that work in the same field: NRB Bearings, Menon Bearings, Galaxy Bearings and SNL Bearings. Management says its main competition for steel balls is imports from China, and that it offers matching prices rather than a premium.

From the offer document (June 2022), the FY24 annual report, the investor presentations of February and May 2026, the August 2026 earnings call and exchange filings of 2025 and 2026.

In its favour

  • Sales have grown fast: 28% a year over three years.
  • It brings in more cash than it shows as profit: ₹0.9 cr against ₹0.9 cr in FY26.
  • The promoters own a large part of the company: 74.90%.

To watch

  • Whether the French plant reaches break even around the end of FY27, as the MD and CFO said in August 2026, and how much more cash it needs (earnings call, August 2026, p.9, p.12 and p.19).
  • Ball plant use against the 30% to 40% management aims for in FY27, from 17% in the June 2026 quarter (earnings call, August 2026, p.3 and p.8).
  • The company told NSE on 18 September 2026 that its statutory auditor had resigned; independent director and audit committee chair Kishorbhai Parikh left from 31 March 2026, and the secretarial auditor resigned on 30 September 2025 (NSE filings of those dates).
  • Borrowings of ₹41.3 cr at March 2026, and an income tax demand of ₹0.70 cr on the old partnership firm for 2017 to 2018, outstanding in the 2022 offer document and not updated later (investor presentation, May 2026, p.41; offer document, p.168).
  • It paid no dividend in the past year.

Management said in August 2026 that its standalone revenue target of ₹110 cr is based on current projections and demand, and that it expects ball plant use of about 30% to 40% for FY27. It said the French plant may reach break even around the end of FY27 and will need cash support from the parent until then. The company says a key global customer it has won could bring revenue of about ₹100 cr by FY30 across that customer's sites, and the CFO said the group would reach a 20% pre-tax margin at revenue of about ₹150 cr to ₹160 cr.

Is it a good business? Six questions

Each answer is about that one question, read from the documents; tap one for the evidence. Not a view on the shares.

SKP earns good money in India making precision rollers and balls for vehicle and bearing makers.

Its weak spot is the French plant it bought, which still loses money and needs cash, plus a new ball plant that is mostly idle.

AverageCan it set its own prices? On special parts it earns high margins, but where it competes with Chinese supply it matches their prices.
The evidence. The CFO said niche parts earn 50% to 60% and standard parts 10% to 20%; the MD said the company is matching prices for steel ball customers, not asking a premium.Earnings call, August 2026, p.15 to 17
AverageHow strong is it against rivals?Few Indian firms make so many kinds of rolling elements under one roof, but customers are slow to move away from Chinese suppliers.
The evidence. The company calls its multi-element production in one place unique in India; management said ball customers have agreed prices but are waiting before shifting volumes from China.Investor presentation, May 2026, p.30; earnings call, August 2026, p.7 and p.18
AverageWho are its customers? The base is spread over many customers, but it leans heavily on the automotive industry.
The evidence. The offer document says there is no material dependence on one or a few customers; management put automotive and other non-bearing customers at about 85% of business.Offer document, p.30; earnings call, August 2026, p.18
WatchDoes it need a lot of money?Yes. New plants and the French business have been paid for with borrowing, and the French plant still needs cash from India.
The evidence. Consolidated borrowings rose from ₹28.9 cr to ₹41.3 cr in FY26 and the India company's long term loans and advances from ₹12.8 cr to ₹23.8 cr; the MD said support for France is still required until break even.Investor presentation, May 2026, p.39 and p.41; earnings call, August 2026, p.12
AverageCan it keep finding new work?It is adding new and global customers, but turning approvals into regular orders has been slow.
The evidence. The CFO said a key global customer has nominated three to four sites for India; four to six ball customers are in sampling, and ball plant use stayed at 17%.Earnings call, August 2026, p.3, p.7 and p.10
WatchDo good and bad years swing a lot?Group profit has swung hard since the French purchase, even while the India business kept growing.
The evidence. Consolidated profit after tax fell from ₹10.7 cr in FY24 to ₹0.9 cr in FY26, with a loss in the second half of FY26; the company says high initial costs in France compressed margins.Investor presentation, May 2026, p.12 and p.40
