About Urban Enviro Waste Management: business, products and customers

Urban Enviro Waste Management collects household garbage, sweeps roads and carries waste to disposal sites for city councils and municipal corporations, mostly in western and central India. Its shares trade on NSE Emerge.

The company runs street level sanitation for towns and cities: door-to-door garbage collection, road sweeping, transport of waste to the disposal site, segregation, and supply of sanitation crews. Some newer contracts add waste processing plants, cleaning up old dump sites, and tracking of vehicles and wards with GPS and RFID. It also serves housing areas, factories, power stations, hospitals and cantonment boards.

Almost all of its customers are municipal bodies that award work by competitive tender for several years at a time. The company bills them each month for the agreed scope and pays for wages, diesel and vehicles, so its margin depends on keeping those costs inside the price it bid. Revenue also includes price escalation and minimum wage revision claims that the city authorities are still reviewing, and municipal bodies pay slowly, so unpaid bills climb as the company grows.

Read more about the business

The work is people and vehicle heavy rather than plant heavy, so growth means hiring crews and buying vehicles for each new city, much of it funded with bank loans. The company has worked in Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh, and in 2026 won its first contract in Uttarakhand.

The offer document compared the company with Antony Waste Handling Cell, a listed municipal waste collection company, while saying the peer is not strictly comparable in services and size.

From the offer document (prospectus, June 2023), the FY26 annual report, the FY26 results filing, the November 2025 and May 2026 press releases and order announcements of June to September 2026.

Urban Enviro Waste Management debt and cash flow

Balance sheet · Cash flow · Working capital

The company's own money, its net worth, has grown fast. Its loans are smaller than its own money. Last year the business brought in less cash than it showed as profit, so part of the profit is still to be collected. It spent more on assets and investments than the business brought in, and raised the rest from loans or shares. Customers take longer to pay than they did in FY24, which ties up more of the company's money in unpaid bills.

What the company said, and what happened

The company's own statements, attributed, set against what it later reported; not newboard's estimates

The company says its next phase, called Urban 2.0, will take it into new states, and that it expects to raise about ₹75 cr through a QIP and warrants over the next two years. On 14 October 2026 it announced receipt of in-principle approval for a rights issue, whose terms are not in the documents read. Its FY26 report says it will keep bidding for new municipal tenders. The Akola contract, its largest disclosed order, runs for five years.

Is it a good business? Six questions

Each answer is about that one question, read from the documents; tap one for the evidence. Not a view on the shares.

Urban Enviro Waste Management earns monthly fees from city bodies for collecting and moving waste, keeping what is left after wages, fuel and vehicles.

Its weak spots are dependence on a few municipal customers, prices fixed by tender, slow government payments, and growing borrowings to fund vehicles and unpaid bills.

WatchCan it set its own prices? No. Prices are set when it wins a tender, while wages, fuel and upkeep keep rising.
The evidence. The FY26 management discussion lists competitive bidding pressure and rising labour, fuel and maintenance costs among its main risks; escalation and wage claims are under review by the authorities.Annual report FY26, p.35 and p.38
AverageHow strong is it against rivals?Years of running city contracts and a large fleet help it qualify for tenders, but organised and regional rivals bid for the same work.
The evidence. The company names execution across many municipal bodies as a strength and competition from organised and regional waste firms as a threat; tenders carry pre-qualification criteria.Annual report FY26, p.34; Offer document, p.34
WatchWho are its customers?Almost entirely city councils and municipal corporations, and a handful of them have brought in most of the revenue.
The evidence. The five largest clients gave 82.38% of revenue and the ten largest 94.29% in the nine months to December 2022; the company lists dependence on government contracts as a weakness.Offer document, p.33 to 34; Annual report FY26, p.34
WatchDoes it need a lot of money?Yes. Each new city needs vehicles and crews up front, and municipal bodies pay late, so loans and unpaid bills rise with growth.
The evidence. Trade receivables rose to ₹64.7 cr from ₹41.3 cr; total borrowings rose to ₹55.3 cr; the company plans to raise about ₹75 cr over two years.Annual report FY26, p.47 and p.54 to 55; Press release, 8 May 2026, p.1
StrongCan it keep finding new work?Yes so far. It keeps winning multi-year municipal contracts, including its largest yet and a first one in a new state.
The evidence. A five year ₹219.1 cr Akola order in September 2026 and a three year ₹14.6 cr Kichha order in August 2026, after several FY26 awards in Rajasthan and Gujarat.Order announcements, 4 September 2026, p.2 and 1 August 2026, p.2; Annual report FY26, p.5
AverageDo good and bad years swing a lot?City sanitation is needed every day, so the work is steady, but each contract must be won again when it ends and margins move between halves.
The evidence. The company lists contract renewal timelines as a weakness; its own release said the half year margin to September 2025 fell from a year earlier but rose from the previous half.Annual report FY26, p.34; Press release, 6 November 2025, p.2
