About Organic Recycling Systems: business, products and customers
Organic Recycling Systems builds and runs plants that turn city and farm waste into biogas fuel, compost and charcoal, using machines and processes it designed itself. It is based in Navi Mumbai and its shares trade on BSE SME.
Organic Recycling Systems was set up in 2008 and in 2013 opened what it calls India's first municipal waste plant built on anaerobic digestion, at Solapur in Maharashtra. It owns the technology it builds with: a patented drum that separates wet from dry waste, digesters that turn the wet part into biogas, composting systems and kilns that turn biomass into charcoal. Buyers include Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum and the municipal corporations of Delhi, Solapur, Kolkata and Kalyan-Dombivli.
It earns in three quite different ways, and the mix drives the reported numbers. It builds plants for others as engineering contracts, booked as the work progresses, so revenue comes in lumps. It owns and runs the Solapur waste plant through its subsidiary Solapur Bioenergy Systems, which earns every year from the waste it takes in and the gas and manure it sells; in FY26 that subsidiary gave most of the group's profit. And since November 2025 it owns Industrial Associates, a chemicals business that buys and resells products at thin margins, which roughly doubled group revenue but added little profit and pulled the group's margins down.
Read more about the business
Because most profit sits in the Solapur subsidiary, the parent company's own accounts look much smaller than the group's. Cash also moved out of the parent in FY26, when it paid ₹25.25 cr as premium to redeem preference shares. The company says it now wants to own and run more plants itself, mainly compressed biogas from farm waste, rather than only build for others.
The company's documents do not name listed competitors. It describes its edge as owning its technology rather than licensing it, and a long record with oil companies and city corporations that counts in tenders.
From the offer document, the annual report for FY2026, the investor presentation of June 2026, and exchange announcements of 24 September and 7 October 2026.

Organic Recycling Systems debt and cash flow
Balance sheet · Cash flow · Working capitalThe company's own money, its net worth, has shrunk. Its loans are smaller than its own money. Last year the business brought in less cash than it showed as profit, so part of the profit is still to be collected. It spent more on assets and investments than the business brought in, and drew on its cash. Customers pay faster than they did in FY24, which frees up the company's money.
Bars below the line are cash going out.

What the company said, and what happened
The company's own statements, attributed, set against what it later reported; not newboard's estimates
The company says it closed FY26 with an order book of about ₹100 cr and a pipeline of ₹200 cr to ₹300 cr, with a wider set of build-own-operate projects of ₹500 cr to ₹600 cr identified. It guides to revenue growth of about 30% in FY27. It plans to move in phases from building plants for others to owning and running compressed biogas plants from farm waste, to grow its chemicals business towards green chemicals, and is developing a carbon capture platform that it says earns nothing today.

Is it a good business? Six questions
Each answer is about that one question, read from the documents; tap one for the evidence. Not a view on the shares.
Organic Recycling Systems earns most of its profit from one waste plant it owns at Solapur, plus engineering work on waste and biogas plants for cities and oil companies, using its own patented technology.
Its weak spots are lumpy project work, slow-paying government buyers, a new low-margin chemicals business, a small promoter stake and the sudden loss of its CEO.
AverageCan it set its own prices? Its own technology saves licence costs, but plants are won in tenders, and the chemicals trading earns only a thin spread.
StrongHow strong is it against rivals?Few rivals have built and run an anaerobic digestion plant on Indian city waste, and its patents and record count in tenders.
WatchWho are its customers?Mostly city corporations and public sector oil companies, which are few in number and slow to pay.
WatchDoes it need a lot of money?Yes: owning plants and waiting on government payments both tie up money, and the move to own more plants will need more.
AverageCan it keep finding new work?It has a year of work in hand and a larger pipeline, in a sector the government is pushing, but much of the pipeline is not yet won.
WatchDo good and bad years swing a lot?Project revenue is lumpy and the company made losses in earlier years before the Solapur plant and new contracts lifted profit.
