About LAPL Automotive: business, products and customers

LAPL Automotive makes vehicle lamps, starter and wiper motors, mirrors and small plastic parts at three plants in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra, mostly for one large customer and partly under its own LAPL brand. Its shares trade on BSE SME.

LAPL Automotive began in 2004 when Neeraj Satyaprakash Goyal bought an automotive lighting plant at Waluj from Lumax Auto. It now runs three units in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad): lamps at Waluj, starter motors, wiper motors, rotors and small BLDC fans at Auric City, Shendra, and mirror assembly and storage at the original Waluj site. Products go to makers of cars, commercial vehicles, two-wheelers and electric vehicles, with IATF 16949 certified processes and some parts approved by ARAI, ICAT, CIRT and VRDE.

Most of the business is design-and-build work for customers who market the parts under their own name or fit them into vehicles; the rest is sold under the LAPL brand in the spare parts market. Because it builds to customers' schedules, sales follow their vehicle output, and one customer, which the offer document does not name, took about three quarters of revenue in each of the last three years. Nearly all sales are within India and mostly in Maharashtra.

Read more about the business

The plants are close to full, so the IPO money is mainly for a fourth plant at Auric City, Shendra, for lamps, electrical and electronic parts and for moulded parts that the company now buys, partly from a firm owned by promoter Anita Neeraj Goyal. Receivables and stock have grown faster than sales, so cash from operations has trailed profit.

The offer document compares LAPL with two listed makers of vehicle parts, Fiem Industries, a maker of automotive lighting, and Minda Corporation; both are many times larger.

  • Compounding applications filed on 16 May 2026 for contraventions of Section 62 in past share allotments, under processing (Offer document, p.25 to p.26).
  • Customers take longer to pay than before: 76 days in FY26, against 58 in FY21.

LAPL Automotive debt and cash flow

Balance sheet · Cash flow · Working capital

The company's own money, its net worth, has grown fast. Its loans are smaller than its own money. Last year the business brought in less cash than it showed as profit, so part of the profit is still to be collected. It spent more on assets and investments than the business brought in, and raised the rest from loans or shares. Customers take longer to pay than they did in FY24, which ties up more of the company's money in unpaid bills.

Is it a good business? Six questions

Each answer is about that one question, read from the documents; tap one for the evidence. Not a view on the shares.

LAPL designs and builds lamps, motors and mirrors for vehicle makers and earns good margins from plants that are nearly full.

Its weak spots are that one customer buys most of what it makes and that customers are taking longer to pay.

AverageCan it set its own prices?Margins have widened a lot, but most output goes to one big buyer that can press on price or make the parts itself.
The evidence. EBITDA margin rose from 8.81% in FY24 to 16.75% in FY26; the offer document warns of loss of business if customers opt for backward integration.Offer document, p.24 and p.130
AverageHow strong is it against rivals? Two decades as an approved supplier with its own design, tooling and testing, but in a crowded industry and far smaller than listed peers.
The evidence. IATF 16949 processes and ARAI, ICAT, CIRT and VRDE approvals; the offer document compares it with Fiem Industries and Minda Corporation and calls the industry highly competitive.Offer document, p.95, p.128 and p.249
WatchWho are its customers? One unnamed customer takes about three quarters of sales, and almost all sales are in one state.
The evidence. Top customer 77.18% of FY26 revenue, 76.82% in FY25 and 76.90% in FY24; Maharashtra 86.20% of FY26 revenue.Offer document, p.24 and p.131
WatchDoes it need a lot of money? The plants are modest, but stock and money owed by customers eat up cash, so profit has not turned into much cash.
The evidence. Receivable days rose to 76 from 42 in two years; FY26 receivables up ₹8.4 cr and inventory up ₹5.5 cr, leaving operating cash flow of ₹2.0 cr; the offer document calls the business working capital intensive.Offer document, p.36, p.249 and p.257
AverageCan it keep finding new work?Demand already fills the plants and new vendor codes and products are coming, but there is no order book and growth waits on the new plant.
The evidence. Lighting and motor lines above 90% use in FY26; three new vendor codes in August 2026; new bus mirror, reflector and Splendor rotor added in October 2026.Investor presentation, September 2026, p.11 and p.12; BSE announcement, 8 October 2026
AverageDo good and bad years swing a lot?Sales rose every year, but growth jumped from almost nothing to a big rise, tied to the main customer's output.
The evidence. Revenue growth of 1.10% in FY24, 8.63% in FY25 and 41.34% in FY26.Offer document, p.130
