About Workmates Core2Cloud Solution: business, products and customers

Workmates is a Kolkata company that moves businesses onto Amazon's cloud and then runs, secures and tunes their cloud systems for a monthly fee. Its shares trade on BSE SME.

Workmates was founded in 2018 and is a Premier Tier partner of Amazon Web Services, the top level of AWS's partner programme. A typical customer starts with a one-time project, such as checking its systems and moving them to the cloud or rebuilding old software, and then pays every month for Workmates to run, watch, secure and optimise that cloud setup. It also offers cybersecurity, data work and newer AI tools built on AWS, and delivers from Kolkata, Bhubaneswar and Hyderabad to customers in IT, financial services, manufacturing, media and other fields.

The business model shapes the numbers. Workmates bills customers for the cloud capacity they use as well as for its own services, so the cost of cloud technology takes about two-thirds of revenue and almost all purchases go to one supplier; revenue is therefore large for a company of its size and margins are lower than for a firm selling only its own people's time. Because most revenue is monthly recurring billing, each year starts with a large base already contracted, while new projects add on top.

Read more about the business

On competition, the company's CEO names TCS, Infosys, Cognizant, Accenture and the large consulting firms Deloitte, EY and PwC for bigger customers, and unlisted cloud specialists such as Minfy and Rapyder as like-for-like rivals among smaller businesses. The company says it is one of only about a dozen Premier Tier AWS partners in India.

What is new: the company listed in November 2025, repaid its bank loan from the issue money, and grew its team ahead of demand. It is setting up a United States entity for customer billing, has deferred fuller United States and United Kingdom expansion and is reviewing its Singapore plan.

From the red herring prospectus (November 2025), the annual report for FY26, the May 2026 earnings call and the September 2026 investor presentation.

A tax rate above 60% or below zero (FY21) comes from tax charged on a small or negative profit, as reported.

Earnings per share before FY26 is on the share count of that time, before later bonus or share issues, so it does not compare with the years after.

Workmates Core2Cloud Solution debt and cash flow

Balance sheet · Cash flow · Working capital

The company's own money, its net worth, has grown fast. It has almost no borrowings. Last year the business brought in less cash than it showed as profit, so part of the profit is still to be collected. It spent more on assets and investments than the business brought in, and raised the rest from loans or shares. Customers take longer to pay than they did in FY24, which ties up more of the company's money in unpaid bills.

Is it a good business? Six questions

Each answer is about that one question, read from the documents; tap one for the evidence. Not a view on the shares.

The company earns most of its money from monthly fees to run customers' cloud systems, on top of one-time projects to set them up.

Its weak spots are that it depends on a single cloud provider, resells that provider's capacity at a thin margin, and works in a market where customers bargain hard on service fees.

AverageCan it set its own prices?Partly. The cloud capacity it resells is priced by the provider, and the CEO says Indian customers bargain hard over service fees.
The evidence. Gross margin after cloud costs has stayed near a third of revenue in every year shown; the CEO called India a very cost-conscious market for services.Red herring prospectus, p.117; Earnings call, May 2026, p.15
AverageHow strong is it against rivals? Its top AWS partner tier and audited competencies set it apart from most small firms, but it also meets the largest Indian and global IT and consulting firms.
The evidence. The company says only about a dozen AWS partners in India hold Premier Tier status; it was AWS Consulting Partner of the Year 2025.Earnings call, May 2026, p.9 and p.19; Annual Report FY26, p.3
AverageWho are its customers?Hundreds of businesses across many fields, but the biggest accounts carry a large share of sales.
The evidence. The top ten customers gave 62.61% of FY25 revenue and the largest one 20.70%; the top twenty gave 73% in FY26.Red herring prospectus, p.135 and p.136; Earnings call, May 2026, p.5
StrongDoes it need a lot of money? No. It needs people and offices rather than plants, and it had no borrowings at March 2026 after repaying its bank loan.
The evidence. The debt to equity ratio fell to zero in FY26 on loan repayment, and debtor days improved to 62.Annual Report FY26, p.22 and p.47
StrongCan it keep finding new work?Yes. Most revenue repeats every month, few customers leave, and projects tend to turn into running contracts.
The evidence. Recurring revenue was 82.5% of FY26 sales, customer retention 95%, and monthly recurring revenue rose through the year.Annual Report FY26, p.3 and p.46
AverageDo good and bad years swing a lot?The recurring base keeps sales steady, but single events can still take out revenue, and margins slipped as the team grew.
The evidence. In FY26 a declined Dubai contract and a rule change for gaming customers removed about ₹7.5 cr of revenue.Annual Report FY26, p.46 and p.47
