About Energy Mission Machineries (India): business, products and customers

Energy Mission Machineries makes machines that bend, cut and roll sheet metal, mainly press brakes, for fabrication shops and factories across India and a few export markets. Its shares trade on NSE Emerge.

The company builds CNC and hydraulic press brakes, which bend steel sheet, along with shearing machines, plate rolling machines and hydraulic presses, at its plant in Sanand near Ahmedabad, and earns a small extra stream from spare parts and servicing of the machines already installed. Press brakes bring in about three quarters of revenue. Buyers range from general fabricators and furniture makers to infrastructure, electrical, shipbuilding and railway suppliers.

Each machine is built to order from hundreds of variants with hundreds of components each, so the company holds a lot of parts and half-built machines and its cash is tied up for most of a year between buying material and getting paid. Sales are also lopsided: management said most of each year's turnover comes in the second half, so half-year figures swing. Plain mild steel plate is the main material, which management says limits raw material risk.

A subsidiary, EM Press Form Solutions, opened a component plant in June 2026 to make parts the company used to send out for job work, and Energy Mission USA handles sales and service in the United States. Capacity was raised from 900 to 1,500 machines a year in July 2025.

Management named Hindustan Hydraulics and Rajesh Machine Tools as domestic rivals alongside small regional makers, and imported machines from Amada, Trumpf, LVD and Turkish and Chinese makers at the top of the market.

Sales have grown steadily. Last year profit grew more slowly than sales, so the profit kept from each rupee of sales slipped.

Energy Mission Machineries (India) debt and cash flow

Balance sheet · Cash flow · Working capital

The company's own money, its net worth, has grown. Its loans are smaller than its own money. Last year the business brought in more cash than it showed as profit. It spent more on assets and investments than the business brought in, and raised the rest from loans or shares. Customers take longer to pay than they did in FY24, which ties up more of the company's money in unpaid bills.

The company's own statements, attributed, set against what it later reported; not newboard's estimates

In June 2026 the company set three-year aims for FY27 to FY29: revenue growth of 18% to 20% a year, an EBITDA margin of 15% and a profit margin of 8%. It expects these from fuller use of the expanded plant, parts made by EM Press Form for itself and others, and more exports through its US arm. It reported an order book of ₹47.23 cr and said orders in the first two months of FY27 were 16% above the same months a year earlier.

Is it a good business? Six questions

Each answer is about that one question, read from the documents; tap one for the evidence. Not a view on the shares.

Energy Mission earns its money building sheet metal machines to order at a lower price than imported ones.

Its weak spots are the large amount of cash locked in stock, sales bunched in the second half of the year, and slowing growth in the latest year.

AverageCan it set its own prices? It wins on being cheaper than European and Japanese machines, and its average price slipped while volumes grew.
The evidence. Management said imported machines cost about twice as much and that average realisation fell 3% in H1 FY26 as volumes rose 8%.Investor presentation, December 2025, p.3 to 4
AverageHow strong is it against rivals? It has a large installed base and local service, but faces global brands above it and regional makers below it.
The evidence. More than 7,250 machines installed; rivals named include Hindustan Hydraulics, Rajesh Machine Tools, Amada, Trumpf and LVD, with about ₹1,200 cr of the press brake market imported.Investor presentation, June 2026, p.2; Investor presentation, December 2025, p.3 to 4
StrongWho are its customers?Orders come from many small and mid-sized fabricators and factories across many states and industries, so no single buyer matters much.
The evidence. More than 500 clients across 8 industries; the H1 FY26 order book was led by fabrication at 29%, furniture 17% and infrastructure 15%.Investor presentation, June 2026, p.14; Investor presentation, December 2025, p.2
WatchDoes it need a lot of money?Building many machine variants ties up a great deal of cash in parts and unfinished machines, and new plant spending continues.
The evidence. Inventory days were 278 and the cash conversion cycle 264 days in FY26; ₹17.38 cr went into fixed assets in the year.Investor presentation, June 2026, p.18
AverageCan it keep finding new work?Demand from many industries and import replacement keep orders coming, but the order book covers only a few months of sales.
The evidence. The order book stood at ₹47.23 cr against FY26 revenue of ₹160.85 cr; orders in the first two months of FY27 were up 16%.Investor presentation, June 2026, p.15
WatchDo good and bad years swing a lot?Machine orders follow factory spending, and most sales land in the second half of the year, so results move a lot from half to half.
The evidence. Management said 60% to 65% of annual turnover comes in the second half; standalone H2 FY26 profit fell 34.06% while H1 rose 16.74%.Investor presentation, December 2025, p.4; Investor presentation, June 2026, p.16
