About Shoora Designs: business, products and customers

Shoora Designs is a small Surat company that trades in polished diamonds and has rough diamonds cut and polished by outside workers, selling to diamond wholesalers and jewellery makers in Surat and Mumbai. Its shares trade on BSE SME.

Shoora Designs was set up in 2021 for clothing and switched to diamonds and jewellery the next year. It purchases rough diamonds from local suppliers in Surat, sorts and plans them in its office, and hands them to local job workers for cleaving, laser cutting and polishing; the polished stones are then sold to wholesalers, jewellery makers and retailers, offline and through its own website.

Most of what it sells today is bought ready and sold on: trading made up the large majority of sales in the year to March 2026, with goods it had processed itself and a small export business making up the rest. Trading on thin spreads is why profit is a tiny fraction of sales, and because cutting is outsourced the company owns almost no machinery.

Read more about the business

The money is tied up in stock. After raising fresh capital through promoter and public warrants in 2024 and 2025, the company put it mainly into diamonds held for sale, so its inventory is larger than a full year of sales; borrowings are small and come mostly as unsecured loans from the promoters.

The company works from a single leased office in Surat owned by a promoter and had nine employees when its offer document was filed. The documents name no rival companies; the offer document says only that it competes with organised and unorganised players.

From the offer document (Prospectus, 2023) and the annual reports for FY25 and FY26.

A tax rate above 60% or below zero (FY24, FY25) comes from tax charged on a small or negative profit, as reported.

Earnings per share before FY23 is on the share count of that time, before later bonus or share issues, so it does not compare with the years after.

The company's own money, its net worth, has grown. It has almost no borrowings. Last year the business used more cash than it brought in. It spent more on assets and investments than the business brought in, and drew on its cash. Customers pay faster than they did in FY24, which frees up the company's money.

Is it a good business? Six questions

Each answer is about that one question, read from the documents; tap one for the evidence. Not a view on the shares.

Shoora Designs earns a thin margin trading and processing diamonds, with almost no machinery of its own.

Its weak spots are a very large stock of diamonds against its sales, profit close to nothing, and a business run largely by its promoters.

WatchCan it set its own prices?Polished diamonds are close to a commodity and rates are settled by negotiation on each sale, so there is little room to set prices.
The evidence. The offer document calls cut diamonds a commodity and says rates are finalised through negotiation; FY26 net margin was 0.31%.Offer document, p.93 to 94; Annual report FY26, p.40
WatchHow strong is it against rivals? It is a very small trader in a crowded Surat market and says its processes are driven by the promoters.
The evidence. The offer document lists competition from organised and unorganised players and says processes are highly promoter driven.Offer document, p.94 to 95
AverageWho are its customers?Diamond wholesalers and jewellery makers, mostly in Surat and Mumbai, who usually pay on delivery.
The evidence. The offer document says most stones go to wholesalers and jewellery makers in Surat and Mumbai and that payment is collected on sale; receivables were ₹0.77 cr at March 2026.Offer document, p.30 and p.91; Annual report FY26, p.56
WatchDoes it need a lot of money?Yes. Nearly all of its capital sits in diamonds held for sale, and the company itself calls the business working capital intensive.
The evidence. Inventories were ₹19.0 cr against FY26 sales of ₹11.8 cr; the offer document names working capital needs as its main threat.Annual report FY26, p.56 to 57; Offer document, p.94
AverageCan it keep finding new work?Sales more than doubled in the latest year, but almost all of the rise came from trading rather than its own processing.
The evidence. Trading sales rose from ₹3.7 cr to ₹10.2 cr while in-house goods were about ₹1 cr in both years.Annual report FY26, p.70
WatchDo good and bad years swing a lot?Sales lean on festival and wedding seasons and on rough diamond prices, and the tiny margin leaves little cushion.
The evidence. The offer document says sales peak in the third and fourth quarters and that rough diamond costs have risen.Offer document, p.28 to 29
