About Boss Packaging Solutions: business, products and customers

Boss Packaging Solutions makes machines that fill, cap, label and wrap bottles and packs in factories, and can put them together into a complete packing line. It builds them in Ahmedabad for makers of food, drinks, medicines, chemicals and personal care goods across India.

Boss Packaging Solutions started in 2012 with sticker labelling and filling machines and now offers more than twenty kinds: liquid and powder fillers, screw and ROPP cappers, sticker and BOPP labellers, shrink sleeve applicators, shrink wrappers, conveyors and full packaging lines for products such as edible oil, ghee, sauces, sanitisers and lubricants. Machines are sold under its own Boss brand and also built as white label machines under customers' brands. Its own service staff install the machines, train the customer's operators and supply spares afterwards.

Each machine is built to order: the design is fixed with the customer, steel is fabricated and machined in its Ahmedabad works, bought-in parts such as motors and bearings are fitted, and the machine is tested in front of the customer before dispatch. Materials take roughly two thirds of revenue, so margins depend on keeping the mix of designs and bought-in parts under control. Because machines are customised and built over weeks, the company holds a lot of stock and work in progress against its sales, and the year's results turn on how many machines it ships.

Read more about the business

Most customers are in western India and almost all sales are domestic; the company has exported to Iraq, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Dubai in the past through merchant exporters. The offer document describes a fragmented market of large Indian and foreign machine makers and small niche players, where price decides most orders and there are no entry barriers, but it names no competitors. The FY26 annual report says it is developing an aseptic brick pack machine, a high speed BOPP labeller and a bottle unscrambler, and that it delivered more complete packaging lines than the year before.

From the offer document (prospectus, August 2024), the FY25 and FY26 annual reports and the company's announcements of August 2026.

Sales have grown fast. Last year profit grew more slowly than sales, so the profit kept from each rupee of sales slipped.

Balance sheet · Cash flow · Working capital

The company's own money, its net worth, has grown. It has almost no borrowings. Last year the business brought in more cash than it showed as profit. It spent more on assets and investments than the business brought in, and drew on its cash. Customers pay faster than they did in FY24, which frees up the company's money.

Is it a good business? Six questions

Each answer is about that one question, read from the documents; tap one for the evidence. Not a view on the shares.

Boss Packaging Solutions earns its money designing and building packing machines to order for small and mid-sized factories, and its range lets one customer get most of a line from one supplier.

Its weak spots are a small size in a crowded, price-led market, a lot of money held in stock, and reliance on factory spending in western India.

WatchCan it set its own prices? Not much. The company itself says price decides most orders, and its margin has slipped as sales grew.
The evidence. The offer document says price is the deciding factor in most cases and that there are no entry barriers. Net profit margin fell to 8.28% in FY26 from 10.10%.Offer document, p.114; Annual report FY26, p.62
AverageHow strong is it against rivals? It is a small player against large Indian and foreign machine makers, but its wide range and its own installation and service team help it win repeat orders.
The evidence. The offer document describes a fragmented market with larger rivals and says customers can source most of their packaging machines from the company alone; machines have gone to 18 states, 3 union territories and 4 countries.Offer document, p.109 to 110 and p.114
AverageWho are its customers?Factories across many industries, food above all, with about seventy customers a year, though the ten largest bring in more than half the sales.
The evidence. Top ten customers gave 60.00% of FY24 revenue; food was the largest end use and the company names FMCG as its biggest source of revenue.Offer document, p.107 to 110; Annual report FY26, p.61
AverageDoes it need a lot of money? It calls itself working capital intensive because machines are built to order and stock is large, but it has almost no debt and spent IPO money on its works.
The evidence. Inventory was ₹9.4 cr at March 2026 on revenue of ₹20.0 cr; borrowings were ₹0.03 cr and plant and equipment rose to ₹5.9 cr.Annual report FY26, p.61, p.62 and p.75
AverageCan it keep finding new work?Sales come from fresh orders with no order book disclosed; it serves about seventy customers a year and new machines are in development.
The evidence. The company served about 70 customers in FY24. The FY26 annual report reports more complete packaging lines than the year before and three machines in development.Offer document, p.103; Annual report FY26, p.61
WatchDo good and bad years swing a lot?Yes. Machine output has varied sharply from year to year, and the company says capital goods demand falls in a downturn.
The evidence. Machines built were 44 in FY22, 23 in FY23 and 52 in FY24. The FY26 annual report calls the business sensitive to general economic downturns.Offer document, p.113; Annual report FY26, p.61
