About Kaushalya Logistics: business, products and customers

Kaushalya Logistics runs depots that receive and dispatch cement for large cement makers, and it also resells televisions, fridges and other home appliances on a major online marketplace. It owns a few rented shops too. Its shares trade on NSE Emerge.

Kaushalya Logistics, based in New Delhi and part of Uddhav Poddar's Bhumika group, began in 2007 as a construction company and moved into cement logistics in 2010. As a carrying and forwarding agent it clears cement rakes from the railways, moves the cement to depots, stores it, loads it and dispatches it to dealers, using warehouses owned or rented by the cement maker and hired trucks. It works for Dalmia Cement Bharat, ACC and Ambuja of the Adani group, Shree Cement and, from March 2026, JSW Cement, and ran 124 depots by March 2026. In February 2026 it ran its first rail rake for a non-cement customer, starting a multimodal line.

Since 2022 it has also been a large seller of electronics and white goods, such as Mi, TCL and Realme televisions and Whirlpool, Godrej and Haier appliances, on a major e-commerce platform. It purchases from authorised distributors in bulk, while storage, invoicing, dispatch and collection are run by platform-linked agencies and the platform pays it after deducting its charges. This trading line now makes up nearly all reported revenue but very little profit, so the company's revenue figure is far larger than its logistics business and its margin looks tiny. Customer returns and discounts are large and are netted off sales.

Read more about the business

Profit comes mostly from the cement logistics fees, from rent on 18 shops it owns in the Urban Square mall in Udaipur, and from interest on loans the company has given, largely to Bhumika group companies. A plan to demerge the logistics business into a subsidiary, Bhumika Logistics and Services, was withdrawn.

The offer document says no listed company in India is engaged in all parts of its business, so it gives no peer comparison.

From the offer document (2023), the annual report for FY26 and the company's press releases of December 2025 to March 2026.

Half-yearly results · Profit and loss

Sales have grown very fast. Last year profit grew more slowly than sales, so the profit kept from each rupee of sales slipped.

Kaushalya Logistics debt and cash flow

Balance sheet · Cash flow · Working capital

The company's own money, its net worth, has grown fast. Its loans are now larger than its own money. Last year the business brought in less cash than it showed as profit, so part of the profit is still to be collected. Customers take longer to pay than they did in FY24, which ties up more of the company's money in unpaid bills.

The company's own statements, attributed, set against what it later reported; not newboard's estimates

The company says it will keep adding cement depots and clients, citing 22 new depots in FY26 and the addition of JSW Cement, and that it plans to grow its new multimodal rail service for other industries across India, with surveys under way. It also says it aims to expand into other logistics sub-segments and verticals. It has not stated an order book or figures for future years in the documents read.

Is it a good business? Six questions

Each answer is about that one question, read from the documents; tap one for the evidence. Not a view on the shares.

Kaushalya earns steady fees for handling cement for big cement makers, but most of its reported sales come from reselling appliances online at almost no margin.

A large part of its profit comes from interest on loans to its own group companies, which matters more to the bottom line than the appliance trade.

WatchCan it set its own prices? In logistics the cement makers set the terms, and in online trading it competes on price on someone else's platform.
The evidence. The offer document says transport is hired on parameters fixed by the customer and there is no long-term or exclusive agreement with Dalmia; the appliance segment earned ₹2.6 cr on ₹2,450.5 cr of FY26 sales after ₹262.4 cr of discounts.Offer document, p.89 and p.91; annual report FY26, p.88 and p.93
AverageHow strong is it against rivals? Its long depot record with large cement makers is an edge in logistics, but online appliance selling has no clear edge beyond scale.
The evidence. It ran 124 depots by March 2026 and added clients including the Adani group and JSW Cement; in e-commerce it is a diamond category seller whose operations are run by third-party agencies.Press releases, 10 and 24 Mar 2026; annual report FY26, p.17
AverageWho are its customers? In logistics a handful of large cement makers, now more of them than at the IPO; in trading, shoppers on one online platform.
The evidence. About 60% of profit came from Dalmia at the IPO; by January 2026 it handled cement for five makers; all appliance sales run through one major e-commerce platform.Offer document, p.89 and p.91; press release, 24 Feb 2026, p.2
WatchDoes it need a lot of money?Logistics needs little, as the cement makers own the depots, but appliance stock and loans to group companies tie up a lot of money.
The evidence. The company works on an asset light model using customers' warehouses; loans and advances to related parties were ₹58.7 cr at March 2026 and the appliance segment held ₹111.6 cr of assets.Offer document, p.89; annual report FY26, p.88 and p.93
StrongCan it keep finding new work?It has been adding depots and cement clients steadily and has started a rail freight service for other industries.
The evidence. 22 new depots in FY26, JSW Cement added in March 2026, cement volumes up 63% in January 2026 against a year earlier, and a first multimodal rake in February 2026.Press releases, 24 Feb, 26 Feb, 10 Mar and 24 Mar 2026
AverageDo good and bad years swing a lot?Reported sales jump with the appliance trade, but profit has moved less because fees, rent and interest are steadier.
The evidence. Revenue doubled from ₹1,226.6 cr to ₹2,498.7 cr in FY26 while profit before tax rose from ₹16.0 cr to ₹16.5 cr.Annual report FY26, p.93
