About Solarium Green Energy: business, products and customers

Solarium Green Energy designs and installs solar power systems for homes, companies and government bodies, and has started making its own solar panels near Ahmedabad. Its shares trade on BSE SME.

Solarium Green Energy, based in Ahmedabad, takes solar projects from design to commissioning: rooftop systems for households under the PM Surya Ghar scheme, larger rooftop and ground mounted plants for companies, and projects for government customers such as NTPC, BSF and Military Engineer Services. It also sells solar products such as panels, inverters and meters, and in FY26 began selling ready made home solar kits through its Saarthi partner network. It was formed as an LLP in December 2015 by promoters Ankit Garg and Pankaj Vallabhbhai Gothi and listed on BSE SME in February 2025, raising ₹105.0 cr at ₹191 a share for working capital and general purposes.

The company made polycrystalline panels at Bavla from 2018 but stopped in February 2024, after tighter efficiency rules took it off the government's approved list of panel makers. It returned to manufacturing with a fully automated panel line at Miroli near Ahmedabad that cost more than ₹90 cr, and a mounting structure unit of 1,200 tonnes a year started in July 2025. Management said on the June 2026 call that 40% to 50% of panel output should go into its own projects, with kits and sales to other installers taking the rest.

Read more about the business

The business mix shapes the reported numbers. In FY26 the company chose large ground mounted projects, which pay during execution rather than on the 120 to 150 day cycle of government work, but carry lower margins, so gross margin fell to about 30% from 34.5% while revenue rose about 60%. CARE notes that its EPC contracts are fixed price without escalation clauses, so swings in panel and cell prices fall on the company, and the new plant added interest on borrowed working capital and a term loan before it earned much.

The prospectus compares Solarium with two listed solar EPC companies, Zodiac Energy and Oriana Power, which also design and build solar plants for business and government customers. CARE describes Solarium as a mid-sized EPC player facing stiff competition from established players, and the panel industry as crowded with Chinese and Indian makers. In home rooftop work the company says its rivals are mainly small local installers, in a market it calls about 98% unorganised.

From the prospectus of February 2025, the FY26 and FY25 annual reports, the June 2026 investor presentation and earnings call, and CARE's rating notes of September 2025 and August 2026.

In its favour

  • Sales have grown very fast: 55% a year over three years.

To watch

  • Execution of the ₹852.3 cr order book CARE reported on 24 June 2026, most of it due within 6 to 12 months (CARE rating note, 14 August 2026, p.2).
  • Use of the 1.23 GW panel line, about 45% in June 2026, and supply of Indian made cells under the ALMM-II rule (Earnings call, June 2026, p.5 and p.7).
  • Collection of trade receivables of ₹152.6 cr, including the delayed defence linked government dues (Annual report FY26, p.70).
  • Timely disclosure: the secretarial auditor listed six late exchange filings in FY26, one of them 49 days late, and the statutory auditor noted that quarterly stock statements to banks did not fully match the books (Annual report FY26, p.42, p.43 and p.119).
  • Customers take longer to pay than before: 151 days in FY26, against 14 in FY22.

Sales have grown very fast. Last year profit grew more slowly than sales, so the profit kept from each rupee of sales slipped.

Solarium Green Energy debt and cash flow

Balance sheet · Cash flow · Working capital

The company's own money, its net worth, has grown. It borrowed much more last year. Its loans are smaller than its own money. Last year the business brought in less cash than it showed as profit, so part of the profit is still to be collected. It spent more on assets and investments than the business brought in, and raised the rest from loans or shares. Customers take longer to pay than they did in FY24, which ties up more of the company's money in unpaid bills.

What the company said, and what happened

The company's own statements, attributed, set against what it later reported; not newboard's estimates

CARE reported an order book of ₹852.3 cr on 24 June 2026, most of it to be executed in 6 to 12 months. On the June 2026 call, management said it expects margins at least to hold at FY26 levels, an exit EBITDA margin of 10% to 12% in FY27, and revenue to keep growing at no less than the pace of the past couple of years, quickening as the panel line runs; it expects no major capex in FY27. It also said home rooftop sales were running at ₹10 cr to ₹12 cr a month excluding kits and should reach ₹16 cr to ₹18 cr a month including kits by the end of calendar 2026, that about 65 MW of its EPC orders will use its own panels, and that more than 300 MW of projects are under discussion. The FY26 annual report says management prefers not to issue formal guidance.

Is it a good business? Six questions

Each answer is about that one question, read from the documents; tap one for the evidence. Not a view on the shares.

The company earns a thin margin installing solar systems and selling panels, and that margin has been falling as large projects take a bigger share.

Its weak spots are fixed price contracts exposed to panel prices, slow paying government customers and borrowing that has risen to fund the new plant.

WatchCan it set its own prices?Mostly no. Its contracts are largely fixed price without escalation, and panels are sold on a cost plus basis in a crowded market.
The evidence. CARE says EPC contracts have no price escalation clause, leaving profit exposed to cell and panel prices; management targets panel margins above 15% on a cost plus model.CARE rating note, 14 August 2026, p.2; Earnings call, June 2026, p.10
AverageHow strong is it against rivals? It is a large vendor in the government's home rooftop scheme and now makes its own panels, but in larger EPC work it is a mid-sized player against established rivals.
The evidence. The company calls itself the second largest of more than 20,000 vendors under PM Surya Ghar; CARE calls it a mid-sized solar EPC player facing stiff competition.Investor presentation, June 2026, p.5; CARE rating note, 14 August 2026, p.2
AverageWho are its customers? Many households plus large public bodies and companies; no single group dominates, but government and defence customers paid late in the latest year.
The evidence. Top ten customers gave 35% of FY25 revenue; payments from some defence linked government projects were delayed in the first half of FY26.Annual report FY25, p.86; Annual report FY26, p.70
WatchDoes it need a lot of money?Yes. Money owed by customers and stock are large against sales, and debt rose to fund the panel plant and its working capital.
The evidence. Debt to equity rose to 0.96 from 0.48 in FY26; working capital limits were about 80% used over the year to June 2026.Annual report FY26, p.71; CARE rating note, 14 August 2026, p.3
StrongCan it keep finding new work?Orders in hand cover more than two years of FY26 sales by CARE's count, and the company is adding kits and panel sales to other installers.
The evidence. Order book of ₹852.3 cr on 24 June 2026, about 2.3 times FY26 revenue; more than 300 MW of projects under discussion.CARE rating note, 14 August 2026, p.2; Earnings call, June 2026, p.5
WatchDo good and bad years swing a lot?Yes. Policy and panel prices move results: sales fell sharply when import duties rose, and panel making stopped when approved list rules changed.
The evidence. Revenue fell to ₹98.8 cr in FY23 from ₹167.4 cr in FY22 after duties on cells and panels rose from April 2022; manufacturing halted from February 2024.Prospectus, February 2025, p.32 and p.133
